Lords of the Underground的背景介紹
由Doitall、Mr. Funke、DJ Lord Jazz三人在北卡羅萊納州的蕭爾大學（Shaw University）組成，Lords of the Underground的作品裡多了一些大學生宿舍中的打鬧笑料。他們曾與Cypress Hill一同巡迴，但在Marley Marl的表兄弟接手成為經紀人後，Lords of the Underground才真正綻放了光芒。
經由牽線，Marley Marl開始與Lords of the Underground接觸，並為與K-Def一起幫他們製作了第一張專輯《Here Come the Lords》（1993），收錄了五首經典派對歌曲〈Flow On〉、〈Chief Rocka〉、〈Psycho〉、〈Funky Child〉、〈Here Come the Lords〉，厚重的中速鼓聲中夾帶著許多薩克斯風聲，此張專輯可說是1993至1994年的東岸歌曲教科書。
然而在隔年就發行了引退作，《Keepers of the Funk》（1994）儘管同樣由Marley Marl與K-Def操刀，卻未延續上一張專輯的氣勢，尤其是當Puff Daddy的音樂廠牌Bad Boy正日漸改變紐約的音樂生態。在這之後，Lords of the Underground回到地下發展，這之間曾在1999年透過Queen Latifah的廠牌Jersey Kidz發行《Resurrection》。
